Aldon and end of season

Very sadly we have now had the last event of 2016 at Aldon, however we did have an enjoyable and very useful outing.

Once the mist had cleared it turned out to be a beautiful day and conditions were perfect.  I gave Yes I Can his last Novice of the season, and as he was on 19 points I was very conscious not to upgrade him (21 points equals Intermediate).  So the best he was allowed to do was a double clear which he duly did.  He did another good test to score 28, and be in second place.  The show jumping round was very solid and clear, I took him quietly around the cross country.  He looked at everything on his way but found the course nice and easy, and luckily 20 time penalties put him further down the order.  So he is now on 20 points and can start the 2017 season as Novice, which is ideal.

Seventh Heaven also had a good day, he did an ok dressage of 35, rolled a pole in the show jumping and was good and clear cross country,  he was quite strong on the course and really showed his confidence, finding everything to be a breeze.

Andrew had Daddy’s Quest there and was very pleased to finish 2nd.  She led the dressage on 28.3 with a good calm test, she show jumped well but had two down which cost her the win.  She went very well and quite quickly cross country, and finished the season very satisfactory.  She will now go home to her owner Gill for a well earned holiday.  Although she came in a bit late she has done plenty this season and will hopefully be ready for her first CCI* next year.
