Final day at Gatcombe

It turned out to be a great day at Gatcombe with Fernhill Pimms holding on to his lead in the Intermediate Championship, to win with a superb double clear and just 3.6 time faults.  It was a very competitive section and Oliver Townend set a very high standard.  So I was delighted with Pimms, it could not have gone any better, and it was a very exciting win for his owners Catherine Witt and Carol Gee.

Freddie Mac also put up a very good performance.  He jumped a lovely clear in the Show Jumping, and gave me a great ride on the Cross Country, but I took him quite quietly.  This was a first Advanced run for him and I could not have expected more in the jumping phases.

Before Time had a pole down Show Jumping but jumped well, and also gave me an excellent ride Cross Country, but again with a few time faults.  This is his last run before Blair CIC so it has been an excellent preparation.

Neuf des Coeurs was in the British Open and did a good test of 45.8.  He had a fence down in the Show Jumping.  I decided not to run him Cross Country, and to save him for another day.

After the cancellation of Gatcombe last year it was great to ride there again, and although the weather wasn’t brilliant there was a good atmosphere, and plenty of people were there to enjoy the day.
