Osberton 2018 rounded off with a slight improvement on 2017.

We had a very successful start to the day with Ludo jumping a lovely clear round in the 1* and moving up to a final 4th place.  That was certainly a very respectable result out of 120 odd starters, and he was only beaten for first place by a mark.

Atlantic Vital Spark wasn’t quite so lucky, he bounced out of the cross country on fire yesterday, and jumped a very good round. He was unbelievably unlucky to role a pole as he was jumping his socks off and very frustratingly he moved down 2 places to finish 10th.  However I could not be more satisfied with his performance finishing 10th in his first 2* with a very limited preparation was a very decent result, and bodes extremely well for next season.

Grafennacht had a good run cross county and as always did a very easy clear round, but she was still quite tense and a bit strong so I am hoping the whole weekend will have done her good for next season.

Georgisaurous also went extremely well cross country getting a valuable CIC2* qualification with a good clear.  I wasn’t being competitive with him so he got a few time faults but he was very genuine and I am optimistic that I found a bit that is suitable.  He obviously finished out of the money.

Stuart Buntine and his team had done a very good job overall, they had some rain but without spiking the going would really have been too firm, so an unbelievable amount of work had gone into making conditions as good as they could be.

It was a hell of a weekend to organise and quite a few of the timings did run very tight, but I think it all came off so that is a real credit to the BEDE team.  My main comment would be that it is still very sad and an insult that the top prize in the 2* is £1500 when there are over 100 in the class and the entry fee is over £500.  I got £100 for coming 10th.
