It was quite a quick turnaround from Burnham to get the young horses out to Portman on Tuesday.

The Portman team led by the Yarrow's had done a fantastic job in getting everything ready. The going was surprisingly good and the course was of a perfect level for this time of year.  We had a busy day with me riding three horses on their first outing of 2016.

The Graduate was doing the pre Novice as his first run.  He was a little bit tense in the dressage which was a slightly new characteristic, but he still managed to get 28.  He jumped a super clear show jumping, and felt great cross country.  I am very excited by him, he feels like a more powerful developed horse this year so there is a lot to go for with him.

Little Fire was very happy to be out but managed to contain himself enough to get 32 in the dressage with a  nice steady test.  He then did an excellent double clear show jumping, showing no rustiness at all.   As he is Intermediate he was competing in the Open Novice and that was very happily well within him.

Secret Night was also competing in the Open Novice and had a good run.  He did a nice dressage to be right up there on 28, he show jumped a super clear and frustratingly, but not importantly, we had crossed tracks in the water but he jumped a great round.

They are all having another run at Larkhill on Saturday which will be ideal.
