Unlike last year Moreton managed to pull it off and get the season under way.  It was great to be out again and we were very lucky with the weather.

I had four horses out and I am very happy to say the day went pretty much to plan – always a relief when the horses are bursting out of their skins.

I rode Little Fire in the BE100, a new horse for our great friend Jenny Dowling.  He is quite a character, and I was very happy with how well behaved he was.  He did some lovely work in his dressage to score 28, which had him in 4th place.  He jumped a lovely double clear with a few time faults to finish 5th, earning his first rosette, and the first rosette for 2015.

Ramdam de Mons, now owned by the Fox-Pitt Partnership which now includes a few new members, had a good run in the Open Novice, scored 26.3 in the dressage, had one fence down and gave me a good feel going clear cross country.

I got a few time faults with them all, they had built a good course but the ground was obviously pretty soft.

Dynasty had a very pleasing run in the Novice.  He also did a super dressage of 26.3, once fence down, and clear cross country.  I was delighted with how he felt because he can get very excited.

Reinstated was very happy to be out, and, for him, was a little bit tense in his dressage to score 35.  He jumped well show jumping, had an unlucky pole and felt good cross country, and certainly enjoyed himself.

Moreton did a great job as usual because conditions must have been against the team in the last few weeks.  There were a few good changes to the course and it is always an event that I feel sets the young horse up well for the season.

Two days of Tweseldown approaching fast and let’s hope the weather holds up for them after the disappointment of the cancellation last year.
