Burghley - cross country

Bay My Hero was fabulous today across country at Burghley.  He frustratingly collected 20 time faults, but the conditions turned out to be quite tough with no horses going inside the time all day.  He had to dig deep once or twice and I was very pleased with the way he came up with the answers.

Usually at Burghley you can make up a fair bit of time down Winners Avenue, but this year it had been excessively watered so the ground there was heavy, making it quite hard work, and giving you no chance of catching up the clock.

I was held on course quite near the end, so there was a bit of a debate about my time faults, but in the end my time was left unaltered.

Although the course was thought to be a little bit softer it was a tough day with very few horses making the course look easy.

It was a really strange day for weather, being excessively humid, foggy and very still and I think the horses found that quite tough.

I am happy to say that Bay My Hero looks in fantastic form tonight so I am hoping that he jumps well tomorrow.  He is currently in sixth place but it is hard to predict what happens in the show jumping at Burghley.
