Burnham Market day 2

A very happy day two at Burnham Market, mission accomplished with Luxury FH gaining his 3* qualification in good style.  He show jumped really well with just one down, it was a decent track and got very holding in places so I was happy with how he coped.  The cross country course had plenty of questions with many related distances and he came up with all the answers and gave me a super ride.  He got a few time faults but time was not the focus of the day.

Fernhill Pimms also rolled a pole in the jumping but his round was good and he was superb cross country, turning much better and really feeling up for it.  I didn't put my foot down on him either, just letting him go in a good rythymn.

Bay My Hero did a decent test in the Advanced section, he felt very confident and relaxed, and I was surprised he didn't get a few better marks than his 29.5.  He had one fence down in the show jumping but I was pleased with how he went, it will have done him good to have jumped a bigger track before Lexington.  I had never planned to run him cross country so I withdrew, and the countdown to America is truly upon us.  He is feeling very good and fit so now it is just a question of adding the finishing touches before he flies on Wednesday week.

Alec Lochore and his team did a superb job as usual, they had made quite a few changes to the cross country course, not without considerable investment.  The changes were really appreciated, however one or two of the combinations didn't perhaps flow as much as you would have liked for an early season CIC qualifier.  It was a very happy weekend overall with very few dramas and the Burnham team must be delighted with how smoothly their incredibly full schedule ran.
