I had a very spoiling day at Upton riding my best two horses around a lovely OI and it all went to plan.

Oratorio did a 23 double clear and Little Fire did a 27.5 double clear.  It was very good to have them both out just for a nice run and we were very lucky to have such good conditions mid July.  It was a lovely event, the ground was pretty much perfect and although the course was a bit easy, it really did the trick and will have more than set them up for a run around the Advanced at Aston next week.

Today I had a very cushy day just with Duke Legacy in the Novice, and it all came together with a very pleasing win.  He has been going consistently all season and the day was very much on the cards - it was just a matter of when it all came together.  He led the dressage with a very good test of 28.8 and he then jumped clear, he followed that with an effortless clear cross country, it was the most I have ever pushed him on, he still got 2 time faults but he gave me a nice quick round and he felt more than ready for the challenge.  It wasn't a very difficult novice but it was an ideal one to up the speed and he coped very easily.  Pamela and the team had a good celebration afterwards and I am looking forward to running him at Dauntsey next week.

Jess Waley-Cohen and team had done an amazing job with what they have organised, it was a definite must and all the top riders were very much there.
