West Wilts & Bramham
It was a very good weeked for Wood Lane. I was at West Wilts yesterday with my three, and they all did a double clear; Vicky Brake's Hardingville Lagoon, Cusco and Grantstown Star Love. They all went very well and did nice tests.
Cusco started with a 30, an error from the jockey in the dressage and not a particularly generous judge, but he did a nice test. Super double clear and I bowled on but got a time fault or two and dropped down to 5th, a very solid day showing now that he is pretty competent at Novice level as he upgrades.
Grantstown Star Love was doing his second Novice, and did a nice solid test of 32, that's sort of where he is at at the moment. He is very genuine and very easy, but just a little bit long and strung out, but he did everything ok. Followed by another super double clear, it was quite a decent cross country course for a second timer, with lots of skinnies and corners.
Vicky Brake's boy Hardingville Lagoon was excellent, nice test of 28, double clear and went inside the time. First time I have done that on him and he did it easily, I finished with another 5th.
Jess was doing her first 4* this year, and had a fantastic time at Bramham. She really could not have expected anything else. The Spice Merchant did a very decent dressage, it could have collected a few more marks but she got a 40, and we were very happy with how the horse went. They then had a double clear, with a fantastic cool show jumping round, she made it look easy, and likewise on the cross country, went all the direct routes, didn't go flat out but bowled on. They came 12th in the U25 National Championships, which was really super.
Chloe was pony racing at Goodwood, we were all very excited to be going to Goodwood, and she had a good win on Ava who looked fantastic. We were a bit worried the ground might have been soft but she breezed around and it was a very happy day for Chloe.
