We had a productive day at Aston Le walls.  The event had done a fantastic job giving us as good conditions as possible during this hard ground time.  I therefore felt very happy to run all my horses.

Duke Legacy was having an Intermediate run this time and I was delighted with him.  He did a very nice dressage to score 29, a couple of small hiccups were probably expected at this stage.  His show jumping was great and he was so unlucky to knock the last fence, but he certainly jumped well, and then on the cross country he gave me a very good ride. We got a few time faults to drop down the order to a very respectable 8th.

I was having my first Advanced run on Moonlight Charmer, and I was very encouraged with how he felt. He did a very decent dressage of 32, to be very much in contention in the 8&9yo class.  A couple of blips on the jockeys behalf were quite expensive.  He then show jumped really well and clear, it was a nice course on the grass but it was certainly up to height.  On the cross country he felt very honest and happy.  Obviously it is early days for us so we are not always on the same page, but he took on everything very happily and jumped a super clear.  So all being well we have now had a good preparation for our 4*S at Burgham this weekend.

Oratorio was having his final run before Burghley and I could not have been happier with where he is at.  He Did a really pleasing test to lie 2nd just behind Kitty King, and just ahead of Kazu and Vince, very important to keep this young upstarts in their place!  He scored 27.2 and with his show jumping he was then in the lead.  I then got 13 time faults cross country so it all went to ‘competitive pot’.  But he gave me an excellent round and very much jumped the Advanced making it feel like an Open Intermediate.

Kazu had an excellent day he was pleased with his dressage and he then jumped an easy double clear, and will hopefully have two more runs before WEG.
