We had a fantastic weekend at Blenheim with the Jockey Club, doing course walks and a bit of hospitality, but today I was off to Pontispool.

I had Cayiano entered in his first Novice.  We all thought it might be an idea to do a Novice before the 5yo final, but today I felt he wasn’t ready for the cross country so withdrew. He had done a very nice first novice test of 28.8, and was unlucky to knock the last show jump. He had jumped really well and just was unlucky to clip the last.

Duke Legacy was also having a Novice run, and he had another very good day.  He did a nice test to be in 2nd on 27.8.  He jumped a nice clear and was also clear inside the time cross country.  He gave me a lovely round and seemed to be quicker quite easily this time.  In our eyes he won but because he finished equal, but my time cross country was slightly quicker so I was dropped into second place.

Under Oath was in the Intermediate and had a very frustrating day.  In the dressage he got 30 to be just 2 penalties behind the leader.  He had two really silly show jumps down but he jumped a really good rhythmical round.  On the cross country he ridiculously lost a shoe early on, and the ground was firm, so I pulled up.

Pontispool were on good form and did a great job with the dry ground.  The cross country courses were big and inviting and it was amazing to see the vast expansion they have made to the show jumping and cross country all weather arena.
