Euro Champs
Cool Mountain scored 42.7 in his dressage earlier today at the European Championships in Luhmuhlen. It was a real shame as he completely fluffed his second movement the extended trot, by cantering the whole way and he also had a rear in his rein back. Apart from this he did some superb work, some of his best and would have been right up in the 30’s.
There was lots of positives to be taken from how well he went overall but his score didn’t help to close the gap on the Germans, who are leading the team competition by some 23 marks. We sit in silver at the moment with the Italians in Bronze. Ingrid Klimke (FRH Butts Abraxxas) leads the individual standings with a score of 30.0, one that contained 6 straight 10's! Silver & Bronze medals places are also filled by German riders Michael Jung (La Biosthetique Sam FBW) and Frank Ostholt (Little Paint).
The rest of Team GB performed well with individual rider Laura Collett (Rayef) in equal 4th on a score of 35.4, Mary King (Imperial Cavalier) in 10th on a score of 38.8, Piggy French in equal 11th on 40.4 and Nicola Wilson in 39th on 52.7.
The team are in good spirits this evening and although it is hot and humid at the moment, the forecast is for rain tonight which could change conditions considerably for tomorrows cross country phase.
