Blenheim
Oslo happily retained his overnight lead going clear across country in the CIC3* with 1.2 time faults. He gave me a fantastic ride and jumped round the course very easily, winning by quite a comfortable margin of 4.4 marks.
Lionheart also gave me a great ride to finish up in third. Strangely he too got 1.2 time faults! He took on the course really well and wasn’t too lit up for going that bit quicker. Both horses will now head to Pau to contest their first CCI4*’s.
Gaucho moved up to finish in 10th place in the CCI3* at Blenheim despite having a fence down in the show jumping yesterday afternoon. He was very unlucky to have the middle part of the treble down as he jumped brilliantly. He came out on Sunday in great form and I couldn’t be happier with how he performed throughout the competition.
Bay My Hero jumped an excellent clear which was a very good note for him to finish the season on. He also felt on top form on Sunday and the experience will have done him the world of good.
This year’s Blenheim was certainly one of the best with David Evans and his team producing excellent going. Blenheim had missed a lot of the recent rain and the ground had suffered from the Game Fair being there in July. The extensive watering and aggravating made all the difference and it was hugely appreciated by all the competitors. Congratulations must also go to Mandy Hervieu and her team for an excellent weekend. There was a huge amount going on and a lot of entertainment provided across the board.
