Purston Manor was a busy event for the novices and overall we had a very good day.

Brass Monkey won his Novice section continuing his excellent run.  He did another good test of 25 and jumped double clear.  He really seems to be going from strength to strength.  He may have another run at Nutwell on Wednesday before heading to Barbury next weekend.

Top Biats also won his Novice section.  He led the dressage very comfortably on a score of 20.5 and just added 2 time faults on the cross country to win by 8.5 marks.  He hadn’t had a cross country run for a while having had a bit of a holiday after Chatsworth but he felt excellent.  He will now go to Barbury next week.

Deli Dynamic finished 7th in his Open Novice section.  He did a pleasing test of 28.5, had one pole down show jumping and went well cross country picking up just 1.6 time faults.  He is getting more settled each time out and is heading to Nutwell on Wednesday.

Luxury FH had a disappointing day and sadly didn’t qualify for the Novice Championships at Gatcombe.  He was just too overexcited and made a few mistakes in the dressage scoring 35.9 and rolled a pole show jumping, but he flew round the cross country. He has really been coming on and I felt that he would have had a good chance at Gatcombe.  He will also have another run at Nutwell on Wednesday.

Henton For Fun was also full of it in the dressage and scored 34, his worst mark ever.  He show jumped really well, which was very pleasing and gave me a good ride across country picking up just 2.8 time faults to finish 10th.

The team at Purston did a fantastic job and they were blessed with great weather.

We have a busy week ahead with four novices at Nutwell on Wednesday before Barbury on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with three novices and four CIC**’s.
